We are really looking forward to serving at City Impact this April. We will be going on two Saturdays before that time, starting this Saturday, Feb 13. Contact us if you are interested in serving with our group on Saturday. Here is an update we recently received…

Greetings to all of our Friends and Partners.

Praise God we are entering the last phases of the Build a Classroom/ Build a Future construction project at City Impact.

Praise God
for answering Our Christmas prayer and bringing us carpenters, plumbers and electricians.

Praise God for the massive amount of work that has been completed in the last few weeks and thank you all for being a part of that.

Status of all rough-in work:

  • Carpentry work: for all practical purposes the vast majority of the carpentry work has been completed and what is left needs to be finished by trade’s people.
  • Plumbing: we have the gas lines completed for all floors and we have the drain lines and the copper completed in the basement and nearing completion on the first floor.
We have two professional plumbers working on the second and third floors and we are hoping to have it completed in two weeks. That will be the completion of all the plumbing in the building.
  • Electrical: The third floor is completed and the basement is almost completed.
We need professional help with the first and second floor.
  • Fire Sprinkler System: All work is completed on the third floor, second floor and the basement and they will be staring the first floor this week.
  • Heating system: we have completed the heating ducting placement on all four floors and received inspection and approval in the basement.
  • Drywall: Rock has been purchased and placed on the second and third floors as well as the basement. We received a very attractive bid to hang and finish all rock in the basement and we will be contracting that out. We need trades people who know drywall work to volunteer and bring their crews. We can help with some expenses.

Volunteers Needed

Andre Helping At City Impact
Our Needs have very significantly changed as follows:

  • On a weekly basis to maintain a safe work area we need 6 to 10 people to come in help clean up all floors and load dumpsters.
  • On a weekly basis we need to continue the help from the “individuals” that we call the “Usual Suspects” who have been there with us day in and day out.   With this small group we are able to coordinate and complete what few things are left quickly.
  • We need professional electricians to help with the first and second floors
  • With the completion of the drywall on each floor we are then going to need large groups of volunteers to come in and paint. We will be taking reservations for painters starting now. Consideration will be given to those who have done the hardest work to come and do some of the easiest. With painting completed we will start laying the flooring and that will take a large number of people.

Completion Schedule: we are putting a completion schedule together and should be able to publish it next week. With that schedule we will post dates for painting and flooring. We could use some trades help with the flooring.

May God Bless all of the churches and individuals that have brought so many to help build this School in the tenderloin. They said it could not be done; they were right. However, with God as our Guide and your help we are getting it done.
