Hello Parents and Students,

In May, we will proctor AP exams at Alma Heights Christian High School.  By March 5th we will have placed our order with the College Board.

Each year we administer a range of AP exams, some covering material for which we offer a certified AP course and some covering material for which you may have been prepared outside of an AP course (e.g., in an honors or college prep class or by personal study).  Normally we encourage Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who excel in the subjects for which exams are offered to sit for the exams.  The exam dates for 2010 run over two weeks: from May 3-7 and from May 10-14.

In consultation with your parents, if you decide to sit for one or more AP exams this year, please express your desire to do so by completing this form on or before Tuesday, March 2. Once you have signed up to take the exam(s), you should submit to the high school office (Mya Lim) a check made out to Alma Heights for the total amount of your exam order.

If you anticipate taking an exam but remain unsure, you should declare an intention to do so and pay the $86 fee for each exam.  Afterward, if you decide not to take one or more exams for which you have paid, notify us by Monday, April 19 (two weeks before testing begins), and you will receive a partial refund of $70 for each exam you cancel by the 19th.  (To see if you qualify for a subsidy from the college board, you may visit their site.  For a complete schedule, exam and course descriptions, and other useful information, please consult the College Board’s AP website at http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/about.html)  Nearer the exam dates, those who have ordered exams will receive further communications regarding mandatory pre-administration sessions and testing times for particular exams.

In the ordering form, you’ll find a list of available exams.  Please click a check next to each you wish to take.  The deadline for ordering is fast approaching, so we’d like to know your intentions as soon as possible.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Boyd at jboyd@almaheights.org.  We look forward to hearing from you!
