  • What do you love about teaching?

One of my favorite things about teaching is watching my students get excited about learning. I also love the relationships that form as we shared our lives with each other throughout the year.

How did you end up becoming a teacher?

I had wanted to be a teacher from a very young age but went into a different direction after college. I worked in social services for many years. But after having worked with children at my church and having my own children, I realized that I still had that desire to teach. I worked as a substitute teacher for the school district and went back to school to get my master's degree in education. I have worked as a Christian educator ever since.

How do you invest in the lives of young people outside of class?

I have two children who take up a lot of my time outside the classroom. They love to explore and learn about new things. We also tend to spend time with other families with children.
