eWaste Collection Fundraiser is this Saturday 5/19 @ LindaMar campus 9am-3pm. Please take a look at home and see if you have any items to donate.

Items accepted: Computers, monitors, televisions, laptops, players, microwave ovens, electronic scraps, boards, cabling, wire, plastic and bottle containers.

NOT accepted: Hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, electronic toothbrushes, CD’s, tapes, fans, air conditioners, and other home appliances.

Growing Through Service 2011 was a great success. Students and teachers shared our vision for service with friends and relatives, resulting in many gifts that have helped improve our campus. Each class served together on a wide range of special projects in our community. High school students served in four different parks, clearing trails and planting trees and flowers. Middle school students did cleanup projects in nearby neighborhoods and beaches, and elementary class served in hospitals and care centers.

To register:

1) Submit the individual camp registration form(s) and $25 reservation fee for each camp that you choose.

2) Complete the 2012 Alma Heights Summer Camp Admission form.

3) Read the 2012 Summer Camp Handbook.

4) Drop off the registration form(s), fees and the 2012 Alma Heights Summer Camp Admission Form in person to the Highlands school office. (1900 Monterey Drive, San Bruno)

All forms needed to register can be found on the Summer Camp website. For those who are unable to visit the website you may stop by the Highlands school office to pick up the forms.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPS for currently enrolled 6-8th graders

This summer we will be offering two special camps designed for Middle School students only during Camp Weeks 1 and 3. Explore digital photography, experiment with Chemistry, play a variety of Sports and learn how to investigate a crime scene. Enjoy relaxing swim days with your friends at San Bruno Park pool! Middle School students are still invited to participate in all of our other exciting camps.

The online course contains all the information regarding after-school sports plus sign-ups and clearance paperwork. Please complete the course and turn in the paperwork to the AHC middle school office by Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Reminder: the date has been moved up. Please remember to turn it in on time. 

SPORTS OFFERED: Basketball, Cross Country, Flag Football, Soccer, and Volleyball. Plus 1 Day Tournaments: Golf, Swimming, Tennis and Bowling.

Thanks to your generous support at last year’s fireworks booth, our athletic department was able to raise $15,000 towards making significant additions to our multiple sports facilities. So far, we have added a fully-equipped weight room that has been open to all high school athletes, students, and even faculty! This year, we hope to raise at least $30,000 to fund the installment of a new scoring table in our gym, padded chairs for basketball and volleyball team benches, team benches for football and soccer, as well as many other improvements to our team equipment and facilities.

This year, booths will be located at the San Bruno Towne Center, as well as at a great new spot—Gorilla BBQ! This additional location provides an optimal site for sales and for the first time introduces Phantom Fireworks to the city of Pacifica. Phantom Fireworks products are top quality and have rankings and reviews that surpass many other vendors.

With the addition of a new booth, we are asking parents to donate their time towards making this fundraiser a success. Two shifts will be required by high school parents of student athletes for SALT hours, and one shift will be required by middle school parents of student-athletes for SALT hours, but all other parents are also welcome to participate for SALT hours. Please note, the number of required SALT hours will be increased for students participating in sports for the 2012-2013 school year. The Athletic Department will now require an additional 8 SALT hours from high school families, and an additional 4 SALT hours from middle school families. These hours can be acquired by working the Fireworks Booths or Sporting Events. Family and friends above the age of 18 will also be allowed to participate for SALT hours. Because of the 18-year-old age limit, students will only be able to contribute by advertising around the designated booth areas. The fundraising will begin at both locations on June 28 and end on July 4. Together, we can make this fundraiser a success!
