Alma Heights Christian High School has just completed a partnership agreement with SevenStar, a Christian online course provider. We will be using SevenStar to help students make up courses (5th-12th grade) during the summer and also to expand our curricular offerings.

This summer we are piloting the program on a limited basis for Credit Recovery for students with failing grades. There would be a chance to replace D grades this summer also using this opportunity.

Students who need to make up coursework will be able to take a course over a 10 week period this summer. The cost will be $475 per semester of a class. Students will be required to attend on-campus sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the AHC library from 10am-12pm. Students will be monitored by an AHC faculty member to encourage the student to stay on task.

Our summer session will begin on June 11 with registration completed by June 4.

Please read for an update about when our yearbooks will be released.

Families of Alma Heights,

I regret to inform you that as of this morning I was notified that our yearbooks are scheduled for a late delivery on 6/8/12. Lifetouch will be sending us free autograph inserts that can be attached into the back of our yearbooks once they arrive. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

Yearbooks will be available for pickup in the library starting 6/11/12 from 10:00am – 3:00pm.

We are trying to plan a yearbook unwrapping party on the night of the 11th.

Why did this happen?

In order to include some key events, we had to push our final deadline later in the year. We hoped for it to work out with our publishing company, but this year they were overbooked during our original ship date and could not fit us in. Please feel free to send me any feedback or comments.

How will we prevent this from happening again?

We have already completed a plan to prevent this from happening again in the future. Starting in the 2012-2013 school year, our yearbooks will now be “seasonally” built. This means that the order of the book will be based on this format:

Introduction
Dedication
Summer Events
Fall Events
Winter Events
Spring Events
Ads

This will prevent signatures (16 page groups that are printed once completed) from having gaps or holes where events are still waiting to happen. This will allow 75% of our book to be printed before we even come close to our final deadline.

Any good news?

We do have some good news. Another new addition to the 2012-2013 school year will be two separate yearbooks each containing 200 pages. Our first book will be for K-8 and will increase the page content from 80 pages to 190 pages. Our second book will be for High School and will increase the page content from 100 pages to 190 pages. This will allow us to include many more events and memories for each department.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Enrique Vargas
Yearbook Advisor

AHC Firework Booth Athletic Fundraiser

Firework Flyer (Click Here)

Thanks to your generous support at last year’s fireworks booth, our athletic department was able to raise $15,000 towards making significant additions to our multiple sports facilities. So far, we have added a fully-equipped weight room that has been open to all high school athletes, students, and even faculty! This year, we hope to raise at least $30,000 to fund the installment of a new scoring table in our gym, padded chairs for basketball and volleyball team benches, team benches for football and soccer, as well as many other improvements to our team equipment and facilities.

This year, booths will be located at the San Bruno Towne Center, as well as at a great new spot—Gorilla BBQ! This additional location provides an optimal site for sales and for the first time introduces Phantom Fireworks to the city of Pacifica. Phantom Fireworks products are top quality and have rankings and reviews that surpass many other vendors.

With the addition of a new booth, we are asking parents to donate their time towards making this fundraiser a success. Two shifts will be required by high school parents of student athletes for SALT hours, and one shift will be required by middle school parents of student-athletes for SALT hours, but all other parents are also welcome to participate for SALT hours. Please note, the number of required SALT hours will be increased for students participating in sports for the 2012-2013 school year. The Athletic Department will now require an additional 8 SALT hours from high school families, and an additional 4 SALT hours from middle school families. These hours can be acquired by working the Fireworks Booths or Sporting Events. Family and friends above the age of 18 will also be allowed to participate for SALT hours. Because of the 18-year-old age limit, students will only be able to contribute by advertising around the designated booth areas. The fundraising will begin at both locations on June 28 and end on July 4. Together, we can make this fundraiser a success!
